Marina Anae

Porirua City Council

Talofa Lava, my name is Marina Anae I am the Team Leader of Parking & Bylaws at Porirua City Council. I have been in this role since August 2021 and prior to that, I was the Senior Monitoring & Compliance Officer at Porirua City Council from October 2017.

My Journey in the regulatory sector started in 2008 when I was lucky enough to be employed by Parkwise which was a division of Armourguard contracted to the Wellington City Council to do Parking Enforcement. I then took an opportunity in 2011 that was closer to home at Porirua City Council as a Part-Time Parking Officer, which saw me in 2012 being offered a full-time position as an Environmental Inspector, which included parking enforcement as well.

In 2014 I moved to Brisbane as I had got offered work at Brisbane City Council as a City Safety Officer before I then decided to move back to Porirua for family reasons in 2017, where I was lucky again to be offered a position of Senior Monitoring & Compliance Officer with Porirua City Council.

The experiences I have gained in the Parking Sector these last 14 years have been very valuable to me. I have been able to take all the knowledge and experience over the years and help train and develop others so they too, can develop the necessary skills and knowledge they need for their roles.

The reason I wanted to be on this committee is that I know how important it is to have a voice and look to hopefully help be the voice for the smaller councils that may need some guidance or for any members of the NZPA. I may not have all the answers, but I will do my absolute best to find the information needed.

I am a huge advocate for Officer Health, Safety & well-being, and always looking for new ways to help Officers feel more supported in their roles. I have many ideas that I would like to share with the NZPA through the committee and look forward to working with my fellow NZPA committee members closely.
