Auckland Transport

I have led the Parking team at Auckland Transport for the past 8 years and accumulated significant knowledge and experience over that time. I am also a Member of the Institute of Directors, with a passion for governance. I see this as an opportunity to serve the NZPA and give something back to the ‘industry’. In terms of my background, previously I managed Auckland Transport Operations Centre, which encompassed, Parking Services, Rail, Bus, Ferry, Gulf Island Airfields, Harbourmaster and Special Events operations. That role had responsibility for leading and directing operations across those business units and the strategic direction of major events in the city. I served in the New Zealand Police for 17 years and retired as a Senior Detective in 1996. I held many roles in specialist units and major crime investigations in multi-jurisdictional investigations across Asia and Australasia. After retiring a partner and I created a boutique Coffee roasting company and developed several retail cafes in metropolitan Auckland. Between 1997 and 2005 the company franchised the business into multiple outlets across Auckland City. In late 2005 I was appointed to manage the operation of Eden Park, and then in 2009, I was approached by Auckland City’s transport agency (the ARTA now AT) to be the transport project manager for the 2011 Rugby World-Cup. Since that time, I have stayed with AT and had an amazing number of career opportunities through to the present time.
