I have been involved with the development of parking compliance in New Zealand since 1986; joining the New Zealand Parking Association one year after its inception in 1985. Since that time I have been actively involved in all aspects of parking control.
Throughout my involvement with the New Zealand Parking Association and Local Authorities nationally, I have specialised in the development of parking systems and people. In 1997 these efforts were rewarded by the New Zealand Parking Association appointing me their first Life Member. For a number of years I represented the Head of the Traffic Safety Service and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) at the New Zealand Parking Association’s annual conferences.
In 1992 I was commissioned by the New Zealand Police to write a comprehensive history book about the City of Auckland Traffic Department. Titled “Equal to the Task” This book details New Zealand traffic control from its birth in 1894 to 1994.
I look forward to presenting to you the history of Parking Control in New Zealand. It is a fascinating story.
